FiveM server commands are typed into the FXServer console or txAdmin's live console, and most can also sit in server.cfg so they run at boot. Below: the resource lifecycle, player and server control, the ACE permission lines that decide who is an admin, and the server.cfg settings people get wrong — syntax from the Cfx.re server documentation.
Quick answer
FiveM server commands are typed into the FXServer console or txAdmin's live console, and most can also go in server.cfg to run at boot. The essentials are refresh (find new resources), ensure resource (start or restart one), stop resource, and add_ace / add_principal lines that decide who is an admin.
Run these from the server console (the FXServer window / live console) or through txAdmin's web console. Resource and permission commands can also go in your server.cfg so they run on boot. Day-to-day player moderation (kick/ban/warn with history) is usually done in txAdmin.
Resource commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
ensure <resource> | Restart the resource if it was started, or start it if it wasn't — the safest way to (re)load one. |
start <resource> | Start a stopped resource. |
stop <resource> | Stop a running resource. |
restart <resource> | Restart a running resource. |
refresh | Rescan the resources folder and load new or changed resource manifests. |
Added a new resource? Run refresh first so the server sees it, then ensure <resource> to load it. ensure is preferred over start because it also restarts a resource that's already running — handy after editing scripts. Framework admin commands (like /car or /setjob) come from ESX/QBCore, not FiveM itself.
Players & server control
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
status | List players with their primary identifier, server ID, name, endpoint and ping. |
clientkick <id> <reason> | Kick the player with that server ID (from status). |
say <message> | Send a chat message as the console. |
quit [reason] | Shut the server down, optionally telling players why. |
exec <file.cfg> | Run the commands in a config file (relative to the server data folder). |
Making yourself admin: ACE permissions
FXServer decides who may run which commands with ACEs (access control entries) granted to principals — a player identifier or a group. Put the group's permissions and its members in server.cfg:
# everyone in group.admin may run every command
add_ace group.admin command allow
# ...except quit
add_ace group.admin command.quit deny
# put a player into group.admin by their identifier
add_principal identifier.fivem:1 group.admin| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
add_ace <principal> <object> allow|deny | Allow or deny a permission for a player or group. |
add_principal <child> <parent> | Make a player or group inherit another group's permissions. |
remove_ace / remove_principal | Remove an entry, with the same arguments. |
test_ace <principal> <object> | Check whether a principal is allowed or denied something. |
Replace identifier.fivem:1 with your own identifier — status shows each connected player's primary identifier. Keep the deny line for command.quit if you don't want every admin able to shut the server down.
txAdmin — player management
txAdmin is the web dashboard bundled with FXServer. It's where you manage players and the server without in-game access:
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Kick / ban / warn | Full player moderation with reason and history. |
| Player history | See a player's past bans, warns and notes. |
| Live console | Send any of the console commands above from the browser. |
| Start / stop / restart | Control the server instance or individual resources. |
| Scheduled restarts | Automate restarts and announcements. |
server.cfg essentials
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
sv_hostname "<name>" | The server name shown in the server browser. |
sets tags "<tags>" | Searchable tags shown in the server list. |
sv_maxclients <n> | Player slots, 1-2048. 32 or more needs OneSync on or legacy; above 64 needs OneSync on. |
set onesync on | Enable OneSync (full state awareness), as in the default server.cfg. |
sv_licenseKey <key> | Your Cfx.re server license key. |
load_server_icon icon.png | Set the server icon (a 96x96 PNG). |
endpoint_add_tcp "0.0.0.0:30120" / endpoint_add_udp | The address and port the server listens on (TCP and UDP). |
rcon_password <password> | Enable RCON with this password (FXServer RCON uses UDP); unset means RCON is off. |
