Intro
The right mods make ARK far less of a grind. Here are the staples for your server, and the rule that stops conflicts.
Quality-of-life core
Start with the quality of life core. Super Structures, the building overhaul. Awesome SpyGlass, to see a dino's stats before you tame. Dino Storage, to store dinos as items. And Death Recovery, to get your gear back.
Load order
Load order matters. Mods load in the order you list them, and the one loaded later wins. Put building and stacking mods before big content or map mods.
Automation & content
Then add automation and content. Stack mods, auto-farming, Awesome Teleporters for big maps, and new maps and creatures for a fresh season.
ASE vs ASA
Know your version. Survival Evolved uses the Steam Workshop. Survival Ascended uses the CurseForge browser. Their mods are not interchangeable.
Matching versions
And after every update, the server and every player need the same mod versions. A version gap is the most common reason players can't join.
