Intro

Want to turn a plain CS2 server into retakes, pugs or a practice server? Here are the plugins worth running in 2026.

Two foundations

Everything runs on two foundations. Metamod:Source first, then CounterStrikeSharp. Install them in that order, and check the server still boots between the two.

No SourceMod

And one thing to know up front: SourceMod does not work on CS2. Your old CS:GO plugins won't run. CounterStrikeSharp is the modern replacement.

MatchZy

For matches and pugs, MatchZy is the standard. Knife rounds, ready-up, pauses, demo recording, and match backups that restore a round after a crash.

Retakes

Want a server that fills itself? Run retakes. Rounds are short, there's no warmup, and players can drop in for ten minutes.

Admin & ranks

Then add the essentials: an admin plugin with bans, mutes and an admin menu, plus ranks and stats to keep your regulars coming back.

Updates

One warning: CS2 updates often break Metamod and CounterStrikeSharp. Back up your addons folder, and wait for both to update before you update the plugins.
