Intro

Players stuck on "connecting" to your FiveM server, or getting a failed handshake? First, find out whose side it is.

Server or client?

If everyone gets stuck, it's the server. If only one player does, it's that player's client.

UDP 30120

On the server, the classic cause: port 30120 is open on TCP, but blocked on UDP. The server list uses TCP, so players see the server. The handshake uses UDP, so they hang forever. Open 30120 on both.

A hanging resource

Still stuck? Watch the server console while a player joins. The last resource printed before the hang is your suspect.

Clear the cache

On the client: clear the FiveM cache. Open %localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data\cache. Delete everything inside, and relaunch. This also fixes "o:err".

Other checks

Other quick checks: verify the GTA V game files, turn off single-player mods and trainers, make sure the server isn't full, and keep the server artifact up to date.

Recap

So: everyone stuck, check UDP 30120. One player stuck, clear the cache. FiveM hosting at esagames.ro.
