How to Move a Palworld Server to a New Host
Moving a Palworld server to a new host is a straightforward file copy — your world save and settings are folders you can transfer. This guide covers migrating without losing bases, pals or players, matching the version, and cutting over cleanly.
A Palworld server's state is its save folder (under Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<worldID>/, which includes WorldOption.sav) and your PalWorldSettings.ini. Copy those to a new host, match the version, update the IP, and your world — bases, pals and progress — comes with you. Get the whole save folder and you keep everything.
Below is the process. Moving to us? Our Palworld hosting exposes the settings in a panel with the RAM Palworld needs — a common reason people leave an underpowered host.
What you'll need
A quick checklist before you begin — have these ready and the rest is easy.
- Access to the old server's files (File Manager or SFTP).
- The whole SaveGames world folder + PalWorldSettings.ini.
- The same Palworld server version on the new host.
- A plan that dedicates 8-16 GB RAM for Palworld.
- The new IP:port (default 8211) to share.
Migrate your Palworld server, step by step
Back up the save & settings
Stop the server, then download the whole SaveGames world folder (Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<worldID>/ — including Level.sav, player .sav files and WorldOption.sav) and your PalWorldSettings.ini. The whole folder is your world.
Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0// (Level.sav, players, WorldOption.sav) Pal/Saved/Config/.../PalWorldSettings.ini
Match the version
On the new host, make sure it runs the same Palworld server version. A version mismatch can stop a save loading, so line this up before uploading.
Upload the save & settings
Stop the new server, then upload the whole world folder into the same SaveGames/0/ path (keeping the world ID folder name), and your PalWorldSettings.ini into the config path — overwriting the defaults, via File Manager or SFTP.
Point the server at the world
Make sure the new server loads the same world — the DedicatedServerName / world ID in the config matches the folder you uploaded. Set the plan's RAM (8-16 GB for Palworld) so it runs smoothly.
Update the connect IP
The new server has a new IP:port (default 8211). Share it with your group so they can connect to the new address, and update your Discord if you have one.
:8211
Test, then cancel the old host
Start the server, join, confirm your bases, pals and player progress all loaded, and have a friend test. Only cancel the old host once confirmed — keep the save backup a few days.
Bases and pals intact
Copy the whole world folder
Grab the entire SaveGames world folder (Level.sav, player saves and WorldOption.sav) — not just one file. WorldOption.sav holds your baked world settings.
Match the version
A Palworld save from a different server version may not load. Run the same version on the new host before uploading.
Keep the world ID folder name
The save lives in a world-ID folder. Keep the same folder name and path so the new server finds and loads it.
Moving for performance? Size the RAM
People often move Palworld because of lag. Make sure the new plan dedicates 8-16 GB — see our Palworld cost guide to size it.
Common problems & fixes
Hit a snag? These are the issues people run into most — and how to solve them.
The save won't load on the new host
Version mismatch, incomplete copy, or a renamed world-ID folder. Match the version, copy the entire world folder, and keep its folder name.
My world settings reset after moving
WorldOption.sav (inside the save) wasn't copied. Bring the whole SaveGames world folder, not just Level.sav.
Players lost progress
Player .sav files weren't included. Re-copy the complete world folder from the old backup.
It's still laggy after moving
Palworld is RAM-hungry — the new plan needs 8-16 GB dedicated. See our Palworld cost guide to size it.
Skip the setup — host it with ESAGAMES

Frequently asked questions
How do I move a Palworld server to a new host without losing my world?
Stop the server, copy the whole SaveGames world folder (Level.sav, player .sav files and WorldOption.sav) and your PalWorldSettings.ini, then upload them to the new host running the same version, keeping the world-ID folder name. Your bases, pals and progress come with it.
Which files hold my Palworld world?
The save folder under Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/
Do my Palworld settings carry over when I switch hosts?
Yes — copy PalWorldSettings.ini, and note that once a world is generated many settings live in WorldOption.sav inside the save. Bringing the whole save folder keeps those settings intact.
Will players keep their progress after I move the Palworld server?
Yes, if you copy the whole world folder — each player's save is in it, along with the shared world and bases. Keep the world-ID folder name so the new server loads it.
Why won't my Palworld save load on the new host?
Usually a version mismatch, an incomplete folder copy, or a changed world-ID folder name. Match the version, copy the entire SaveGames world folder, and keep the same folder name and path.
How do players connect after I move a Palworld server?
Share the new IP:port (default 8211). They connect to the new address as before — their progress is in the world you migrated.
